Chena River Suite
The Alaska Heritage House was not spared from the ravages of the all too frequent Chena River floods. Over the years several residents of the house marked the high water point on the house’s wood foundation planks. During the house’s 2002 – 2007 restoration these salvaged planks were placed on a small section of a wall that is part of what is now the Chena River Suite. Outfitted with Judge James Wickersham’s brass double bed, authentic etched Tiffany glass doors, bent wood chairs and many early 20th century antiques, this suite provides a bright and luxurious contrast to Fairbank’s long winter nights.
